NOTES:
Pre-Season we had 4 players join us (Callum, Jason, Jack R & Ryan H), & we saw 3 players leave us (Lewis, Jared, & Tom)
Unfortunately Jack R never progressed past Pre-Season, & early in the season we also lost 'Drew. This reduced us to a Squad of 15.
We got off to a good start Winning 2 & Drawing 1 of our 1st three League fixture & Winning a tough draw in the 1st round of the Hants Cup. We then lost 1 - 0 to Wimbledon Park Tigers in the 2nd Round of the Hants Cup - not a bad result! They reached the Semi Final this season, & have previously always featured in the last few teams, reaching the Final on one occassion.
We also played a friendlie against Rossgarth Dorset which we won 2 - 4.
We then suffered a 1st League defeat, this was against Redhill who went on to Win the League - Again...!
Our 1st round Bmth Cup fixture was a mammouth game, & saw us 'Nearly' become the 'Giant Killers'. We were drawn against Poppies [One of the favourates for the League], at full time the game was tied at 3 - 3. We then took the lead for the 1st time in Extra Time, only to see it slip away in the dying minutes.
We had Poppies the following week in the League, & with only 12 men available we lost 3-1.
We then went on to win against Burton & Branksome in the League, with a Friendlie sandwiched inbetween against Poole Town Wessex. We also won this 3 - 2, not bad considering they went on to become clear runners-up in Dorset Div 1.
We then had a long Xmas break..........
Due to work committments Simon was unable to attend Games as much as he wanted, & therefore And was appointed as my assistant for the 2nd half of the season.
We came back to 3 back to back fixtures against the top 3 [Broadstone, Redhill & Poppies]. We lost them all, & some quite heavily, so the fact we then went on to win ALL our remaining fixtures was a really good show of team spirit. Within these victories were two memorable ones:-
1: Corfe Mullen 5 - 1. At the time this was a 4th/5th position fight, & was the reverse fixture of a very ugly game at their place.
2: Braodstone 3 - 2. This was the 1st Time we had beaten Broadstone at 11-a-side, & was well deserved.
During the above period we signed another player [Jack H], this was more a reward for his commitment to training while not signed, & as a future player for next season.
We finished the season in Early March, & had to wait a few weeks for the remaining fixtures to be completed, before we could be sure of where we stood.
While we waited, we arranged some Friendlies
1: Kings Park Dynamoes - Won 6 - 1
2: Poppies U14 - Won 4 - 1
3: Highcliffe Hawks - Won 7 - 1 [This was pleasing, as H.H had won Div 2, & were unbeaten ALL SEASON until NOW!]
We eventually finished 4th
2 points off 3rd, & a whole 11 points clear of 5th.
This is by far our best season to date, & looking at last seasons notes, we do seem to have turned those Draws into Wins.
What we have to do now is compete more consistantly with the top few teams.
I wrote this last year, & still think it applies: -
"Upon refection; we played some great football, & at times we were an equal match for anyone. Our style is pleasing on the eye but perhaps not direct enough - something we need to address next season eh...............?"
Stats:
P14, W8, D1, L5, G+52, G-36, G/D +16, Pts 25, Pos 4th
Just for Fun......
If we counted our Friendlies & Cup Games [I.E: all games played], our Stats would read as follows: -
P22, W14, D1, L7, G+84, G-50, G/D +34, Pts 43, Pos N/A
We then entered the Baddesley Park 6-A-Side Tournament in Eastleigh in June, as an end of Season Curtain Fall.
Squad: George, Mac, Jason, Ryan B, Callum, Sam, Henry & Laurie [new signing for 2011/12]
Our Age group was split into two leagues of 4. We Won 2 & Drew 1, to top the league.
We then won the Q/F, to set up a mouth watering tie with the Local Home Team favourites in the Semi's. It was a highly charged game with the Home team getting frustrated & agressive. This eventually saw us get 1 player dismissed & them getting 2 players dismissed, Although the game was already won by us by then.
The Final was a much more relaxed game with both teams trying to play, problem was, we were so dominate & really gave the opposition very little possesion.
After 6 games we won 5, drew 1, conceded 1 & scored loads [lost count]
Greenfields U15 = Baddesley Park U15 6-a-side 2011 tournament CHAMPIONS.......!
