Season Review

Last season will go down as our most successful season to date, with many high points and for sure mission accomplished as we sail towards 11 a side football in season 2009/ 2010.

In 2009 we won 3 trophys firstly the R and T Trophy which is a magnifent achievement in its own right and saw us beat teams from all over the country before clinching a nail biting penalty shoot out to win the Cup. All those involved will never forget the scenes as victory was completed.

I thought that that achievement could not be bettered however was to be proved wrong as we for the first time in Greenfields history took a team to foriegn shores to compete in a tournament in france alongside some top top french academy sides like PSG LILLE etc. Incredibly we won the event again with a penalty shoot out in front of 1200 spectators becoming not only the first English team to win the event in 33 years but also the first non profesional team to achieve victory!

Apart from winning trophys though the most pleasing thing about our success this season has seen the development of all the boys and it was noticable that both the trophys mention above involved two different squads and indeed points us towards the realisation that we have a very strong Squad as opposed to a mini soccer team.

Individually there have been some rapid developments on the field however i feel it unfair to single out ant single boy for particuliar praise as in thier own way every boy has developed at a rate of knots.

So in summary we have to wave good bye to the mini soccer era, in total we played 78 games during that period winning 56 games Drawing 11 and losing 11 which would be up there with the most consistent sides to date.

Development
We saw two boys Jack Higgins and Jez Bedford progress into academy football as well as now having 5 boys involved in develpment centres at clubs. for the record of the top 5 teams in the league we are the only team that has lost boys to academys yet we have remained succesfull.
